Take your flexibility to a new level.
At Flexibility with Vera, we (unsurprisingly!) spend most of our time discussing the benefits of flexibility. But to make the most of your stretch routine, you need to incorporate another pillar of fitness: strength training.
Like flexibility, strength training has an important role in our daily lives. It provides us with the strength and power we need to carry out our everyday tasks. From rearranging your houseplants to keeping your balance when your dog sees a squirrel at the park, we need strength.
This need for strength doesn’t end when it’s time to stretch! Strength training keeps us sturdy and in control as we move our bodies through a range of unusual shapes.
Strength is how we stay safe as we stretch. When we train our flexibility, we are bringing our joints to their furthest range of motion. This is where our muscles have the least control, and our joints are their most vulnerable. By developing our strength in this state, we are able to improve our stability and protect our joints.
Strength can bring precision, stability and control to our flexibility training. For example, our glute and hamstring strength is what allows us to unlock thread the needle, and our back strength is needed to work on our cobra!
If you want to feel safer and more stabilized in your flexibility practice, it’s time to dip your toes into some strength training as well.
You ready to feel stronger? FWV has launched our first ever full-body strength training class!
This class uses all body weight or light weight, so you can strengthen your muscles, even if you don’t have any weights handy. This new strength training class is accessible through the On-Demand Library.
